The drink was introduced from India to England in the early seventeenth century from there its use spread to other countries. Punch is typically a party drink served colorfully at parties in large, wide bowls known as punch bowls. The word punch is derived form the Hindi word panch and the drink were originally made with five ingredients which includes alcohol, sugar, lemon, water and tea or spices.

 

The original drink was named paantsch which could derive from the Persian word panj meaning five. Alternatively, it may have also derived from the word puncheon, a cask that held 72 gallons, from which a punch bowl could be made. History states that the drink was brought back from India to England by sailors and employees of the British East India Company in the early seventeenth century.

 

From there it was introduced into other European countries. The term punch was first recorded in British documents in 1632. At the time, most punches were of the Wassail type made with a wine or brandy base. But around 1655, Jamaican rum came into use and the 'modern' punch was born. By 1671, documents make references to punch houses.

 

Today soft drink have become so attractive that its almost taken over the market. Kids are getting attractive towards these colorful drinks not knowing the health hazards of it. Most of the soft drinks contain only small amounts of actual fruit juice and the majority of the flavor comes from sugar or corn syrup, citric acid and artificial flavors.

 

Drinking fresh juice is always good and excellent for health. Ginger ale is a carbonated soft drink flavored with ginger. Ginger ale commonly contains ginger, sugar, and carbonated water. Ginger ale can also contain yeast when carbonated with natural fermentation.

 

Lemon, lime and cane sugar are the most common of ingredients. Pineapple and honey are also occasional ingredients. Most commercial ginger ales made in the United States are made with high fructose corn syrup to reduce manufacturing cost.

 

For preparing this luscious and mouth watering Ginger Pineapple punch, in a large pitcher, combine orange juice, pineapple juice and ginger. Cover and chill for about 2 to 24 hours. Strain mixture.

 

Discard ginger and pulp. Slowly pour diet ginger ale into juice mixture. Serve over ice in chilled glasses and garnish with oranges slices. This makes a fantastic drink as the natural taste and juice of ginger extracted makes it highly delectable.
