It is called Puran poli or Puranachi poli in Maharastra, Obbattu or Bobbatlu in Andra Pradesh, Holige in karnataka. It is an authentic Indian recipe. Poli is made during many of the festive Occasions such as Ugadi,Navaratri Vratham, Vinayagar Chaturthi,holi, Avani avittam. Though there are slight variations, the basic concept and flavors remain the same, a perfect example of unity among diversity.

PUMPKIN BOBBATLU

Ingredients used in PUMPKIN BOBBATLU
• Ghee - 1+1/2 tablespoon.
• Semolina - 1/2 cup.
• Pumpkin (grated) - 1 cup.
• Sugar - 1 cup.
• Cardamom powder - 1/4 tea spoon.
• All purpose flour - 1 cup.
• Wheat flour - 1/2 cup.
• Salt - pinch.
• Oil - 2 tablespoons.
• Water - as required.
Method:
  • Heat ghee in a pan, roast semolina until it is slightly coloured.
  • To it, add grated pumpkin, cook it for around 5 minutes.
  • Add sugar, cardamom powder and cook for 3-4 minutes until it form a single mass.
  • Transfer into a plate and rest it, later make small dumpling or make round balls.
  • Take a bowl, add all purpose flour, wheat flour, pinch of salt, 1 teaspoon of oil and mix nicely to make dough using water.
  • Divide dough into small portions, make flat round shape on a polythene sheet using fingers then stuff the sweet ball mixture in middle and seal edges.
  • Again make bobbatlu by pressing with fingers.
  • Place bobbatlu on hot tawa and cook on both sides using oil.

Now Pumpkin Bobbatlu are ready to serve.
