Pakoda, Pakora or Pakodi is one popular snack that is liked by almost everybody especially during rainy season. It is also one of the most simple, easy to prepare and delicious snack that can be made in a jiffy and satisfy your palate. Indian pakoras/ pakodas or fritters can be eaten on its own or served with a variety of spicy, sweet and tangy chutneys like mint chutney, chaat green chutney, Chaat sweet tamarind chutney, sauce etc.
Pakodas are crispy crust encased with one veggie or a variety of vegetables or chunks of chicken or mushroom. Pakodas are often sold at every street corner food stall. These are amazing and exceptional snacks that is popularly eaten during monsoon with a hot cup of tea.

Pakora Pakoda Pakora/ Bajji is a simple dish prepared by dipping the sliced vegetable in a mildly spiced batter made of gram flour and deep fried until done and crispy.
Cabbage Pakoda Cabbage needs to be sliced into thin strips along with onions before combining in chick pea flour, rice flour, ginger garlic paste, curry leaves and green chillies and deep fried to a golden brown colour. Serve warm with a hot cup of tea on a rainy day and you have a snack to provide comfort to your body and soul.
Onion Pakoda Onion Pakoda is a deep fried batter snack made of gram flour (besan), other spices and onions.
Moong Dal Pakoda Moong dal pakoda made with moong dal is combined with spices, onions, green chillies, fresh herbs, mixed together and deep fried to make lentil based fritters.
Crispy Spinach Fry palak Pakoda Crispy spinach fry/ Palak Pakoda is a delicious and crispy fritters prepared with spinach leaves coated with spicy chick pea flour.
Potato Fritters Aloo Bajji Pakora Potato fritters are crispy and luscious snack made with sliced potatoes coated with spicy chick pea flour batter and deep fried until golden in colour.
Pakora – Raw Jackfruit Fritters Raw or Young Jackfruit as the name suggests is a smaller version of ripe jackfruit. It is called as ‘Kadgi/Chakko’ in Konkani and widely used in Konkani cooking. The raw jackfruit has mild flavour. Raw jackfruit is best for preparing dry curries or pakoras.
Snake Gourd Fritters Padwal Pakoda Snake gourd is a great vegetable and perfectly suitable for making pakoras and a must try for rainy days.
Mahi Pakoda Mahi pakoda/ fish pakora is made with boneless fish fillets thinly sliced, marinated in a wet batter of gram flour and spices and deep fried till cooked until done and crispy.
Masala Chicken Nuggets Chicken Pakoda Chicken Pakodas are yummy and delicious appetizers or snacks made with succulent chicken pieces and spices combined together and coated with a spicy batter deep fried to make exotic and exceptionally tasty pakodas.
Fried Boiled Eggs Egg Pakora Bread discs topped with spicy potato mixture sprinkled with sesame seeds and deep fried till perfection. Chicken gold coin is a Chinese style gold coin made with chicken. This yummy lip smacking gold coin waters your mouth and it is a perfect snack for a party.
Crispy Papad Pakoda Crispy papad pakoda, made with leftover papad sprinkled with some chickpea flour and deep fried. Tastes extremely well with curd rice!
Paneer Pasanda Pakoda Paneer mixed with chickpea flour and spices and make into excellent pakodas and deep fried.
Sandwich Paneer Pakoda A popular variation of paneer pakora is to sandwich two pieces of paneer with green chutney before dipping them in the pakora batter.
Mix Vegetable Pakora Vegetable Pakora recipe is an easy to make Indian starter prepared with mixed vegetables, chickpea flour and carom seeds. Goes as evening snacks.
Methi bajji, bajjiya, methi pakoda with besan and best had as evening snack all over India. Pakoras are known as bhajiyas/bhajji/bajji. This is a variation of the same using methi leaves.
Fresh Corn Pakodi. pakodi made with fresh corn. Sweet Corn Pakoda is a great snack item which has the freshness, crunchiness and sweetness of corn.
Thotakura balls made with Thotakura/ Amaranth leaves/ Chauli are much loved greens used for preparing stir fries, dal and stew in our daily meal. Thotakura balls is an amazing variation for preparing fritters with these green leaves added to chick pea flour (besan), spices and deep fried until crispy and golden in colour. They are easy to prepare, taste good with sweet chutney, has unique flavours and is best served for any cocktail party for vegetarians or is also a nutritious party appetizer or a tea time snack.
Roughly crushed fresh Indian corn mixed with chopped spring onions, bell peppers and spices, made into patties and deep fried served with sweet chilli sauce.
Garam Garam Onion Pakora is an all-time favorite starter snack in most Indian party menu. It is also known as "Kanda Bhajia" in North India. This can be prepared in very less time & makes a mouthwatering combo with hot coffee.
Mirchi Vada or should we also call it Jodhpuri Mirchi Bada which is a very popular namkeen snack in the state of Rajasthan. The traditional Mirchi bada is made of the large variety of green peppers stuffed with a spicy potato mix, coated with gram flour and deep fried until slightly golden in colour.
Plantain cut into slices and dipped in besan batter same like pakora and deep fried. This can be served as hot snacks in cold weather especially in south India you can find this fritters in every marriage.
