Awesome yummy rice preparation generally made for neivedhyam during navaratri days. Sesame seed rice, commonly known as Til Rice is an awesome and delicious rice preparation. This is a very fast to cook, simple yet yummy and appetizing dish which can also be made with left-over rice. This dish is made with boiled/ cooked rice which is added to a flavorful spicy sesame seeds-spices mix and little hot sesame seed oil giving a unique taste to the dish.
Til or sesame seeds are widely used in Asian cooking. They are tiny, cream coloured seeds which are tear drops shape. They have mild nutty flavour which is further enhanced on roasting the seeds. They are one of the most prized ingredients while making a variety of korma gravies as it has a unique and distinctive flavour. It is one of the most versatile ingredients that are used in many dishes – sweet & savoury. Oil extracted from sesame seeds commonly known as Til oil is a popular cooking medium in parts of Indian states.
Ingredients:
Directions:
The sesame seeds have a nutty taste, very delicate almost invisible crunch that are added to many Asian dishes. Sesame seeds are tiny little flat oval seeds very delicate almost invisible crunch that are added to many Asian dishes. They are added to breads including bagels and tops of burger buns and baked into crackers. In India, sesame seeds are used for various dishes. Natural Black sesame seeds are highly used in bakery products such as breads, bread sticks, cookies, candies, pasta, vegetables & curry dishes.
The roasted seeds are also used in flavouring several types of salads, raitas and dressings. Sesame seeds are generally used for making delicious starters and crispy coated food items such as cutlets and are also used to make homemade muffins and cookies. This is an exceptional rice preparation that you must give a try. Normally we all prepare regularly the lime rice, tamarind rice, coconut rice and so on. This is another variation with exotic flavour and taste making the rice divine to taste.
Sesame amongst the nuts and seeds are rich in quality vitamins and minerals. They are very good sources of B-complex vitamins such as niacin, folic acid, thiamine (vitamin B1), pyridoxine (vitamin B6) and riboflavin. Just a hand full of sesame a day provides enough recommended levels of anti-oxidants, minerals, vitamins and protein.
