Red Chilli Chutney, a hot and spicy yet delicious chutney prepared from dry red chillies enhances the taste and flavor of many Indian snack items. This chutney recipe uses dry red chillies and combines its hotness with garlic to take its flavor profile to the next level. Not only that, the paste of chilli, garlic and spices is sautéed in oil to give it a tempting taste and texture which is not possible otherwise.

Ingredients used in Red Chilli Chutney spicy
• Oil - as required.
• Red chillies - 2-3 numbers.
• Onion - 1 number.
• Tomatoes - 1 number.
• Garlic - 4 cloves.
• Cumin seeds - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Tamarind - 25 grams.
• Salt - to taste.
Method:
  • Take oil in hot pan and add fresh red chillies.
  • Then add sliced onions, tomatoes, garlic, cumin seeds, tamarind, salt and mix it.
  • Cook it for 5mn with lid on, but keep mixing it in between.
  • When tomatoes are almost cooked just switch off the flame.
  • Transfer it in a blender and blend it into fine paste.
  • Serve with idli, dosa and other tiffins.

Great recipe!   But, we do not have the fresh, large red chiles where I live.   They don't even have them in any of the Indian groceries.Is it possible to substitute something else?Please keep posting more Indian food recipes!!!?
