Ingredients used in Mutton Dhalcha
• Toor dhal - 1 cup.
• Water - as required.
• Oil - as required.
• Caraway seeds - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Whole red chilies - 3 numbers.
• Onions - 1 small.
• Mutton - 250 grams.
• Ginger garlic paste - 1 tea spoon.
• Turmeric powder - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Red chili powder - 2 teaspoons.
• Salt - to taste.
• Tamarind pulp - 2 tablespoons.
• Curry leaves - 1 spring.
• Kavabchini - 6 numbers.
• Cinnamon stick - 1 number.
Method:
  • Pressure cook dhal with double the amount of water. Mash dhal, mix half of the salt and keep it aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add caraway seeds and whole red chilies and let it splutter. Add onions and fry till it becomes translucent.
  • Add meat and stir till the water dries up. Then, add turmeric powder, ginger garlic paste, red chili powder, and fry for a minute.
  • Pour little bit of water and cook till mutton pieces become tender.
  • Finally, add dhal and tamarind pulp to it and stir well. Bring dhal to boil after adding kavabchini, cinnamon stick, salt and curry leaves and serve hot.

Mutton dhalcha goes well with fried rice, zeera rice, vegetable pulao, or plain steamed rice.
