Ingredients used in Moong Dal with Spicy Onion
• Moong dal - 100 grams.
• Onion (sliced) - 2 numbers.
• Green chilies (chopped) - 3 numbers.
• Garlic (chopped) - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Ginger (chopped) - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Cumin seeds - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Turmeric powder - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Red chili powder - 1 tablespoon.
• Garam masala powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Coriander leaves (chopped) - 1/2 bunch.
• Mint leaves (chopped) - 1/2 bunch.
• Salt - to taste.
• Oil - 1 tablespoon.
Method:
  • Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, ginger, garlic, green chilies, slices of onions, salt, turmeric powder, saute it for some time.
  • Add moong daal (boil the moong dal untillgrainy), chili powder, garam masala powder,mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Now add coriander leaves and mint leaves, mix properly and switch off the flame.

Now moong dal with spicy onion is ready to serve.

it is boiled dal but not boiled to a mushy consistency. You cannot use raw dal in this recipe since it is being cooked with onions only for a few minutes. You have to use dal that is already boiled.

The chef doesn't specify the measurements during the videos. Earlier he said that he posts all the recipes on his website (the recipes are posted a few days after the video appears on youtube).

A very nice dish. The main turning point could serve well for the viewers if you tell prior start cooking how long you soak the dal so also how you cook it without getting mashy, and the extra water what happened.
