Ingredients used in Kolhapuri Mutton Curry
• Mutton - 1000 grams.
• Coriander seeds - 1 tablespoon.
• Cumin - 1 tablespoon.
• Ginger - 3 grams.
• Garlic - 12 grams.
• Onions - 60 grams.
• Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon.
• Poppy seeds - 1/2 tablespoon.
• Dry coconut - 20 grams.
• Cloves - 4 numbers.
• Peppercorns - 4 numbers.
• Turmeric powder - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Onions - 250 grams.
• Chilli powder - 1 tablespoon.
• Salt - to taste.
• Oil - as required.
• Water - as required.
Method:
  • Slightly fry all ingredients from coriander seeds, cumin seeds, onion, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dry coconut, cloves, peppercorns except ginger and garlic.
  • Then grind all including the raw garlic and ginger together to a paste.
  • Fry mutton in a 50 ml of oil and keep aside.
  • Then in 50 ml of oil, fry 1/4 kg finely sliced onions to a golden brown colour.
  • Add ground masala and mix and fry together a little.
  • Now addd turmeric powder and the half cooked meat and mix well.
  • 4-5 cups of water, chilli powder and salt to taste.
  • Allow to cook on a slow fire.
  • Keep curry thick or thin according to your taste.
