Ingredients used in Ilai Ada
• Raw rice - 1 cup.
• Coconut grated - 2 cups.
• Ripe banana any variety - 3 numbers.
• Sugar - 1 cup.
• Salt - to taste.
• Cardamom powder - pinch.
• Water to grind - as required.
• Banana leaves cut into square size of 9 inches - 10 numbers.
Method:

Soak the raw rice for 4 hrs. Grind it with salt into a paste with medium consistency(Neither too watery nor too thick). Keep it aside. Take a square size banana leaf, put 2tbsp of ground paste on the leaf and spread it with your fingers into round shape. It should not be thick and should be spread over the leaf evenly. Cut a banana into half and make it thin slices. Spread some pieces of banana, some cardamom powder and some sugar on the ground paste. Then fold the leaf into half. Also fold the sides of the leaf roughly. Similarly,spread the remaining batter in each banana leaf and add coconut, sugar,banana pieces and cardamom and fold into half. Finally, steam the folded banana leaves in a steamer for 15-20 minutes.
