Ingredients used in Benda Batata Masala
• Fried okra/ladies finger - 1/2 cup.
• Fried potatoes - 1/2 cup.
• Oil - 3 tablespoons.
• Mustard seeds - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Cumin seeds - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon.
• Curry leaves - 1 spring.
• Onions - 1/2 cup.
• Salt - to taste.
• Turmeric - 1 pinch.
• Red chilli powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Garam masala - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Goda masala powder - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Coriander powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Black salt - 1 pinch.
• Tomatoes - 1-2 numbers.
• Sugar - 1 pinch.
• Roasted peanut powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Fresh coconut - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Coriander leaves - 1/4 bunch.
Method:
  • In a hot pan add oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, curry leaves and saute it.
  • When it color changes add onions, salt and saute it till the color changes.
  • Then add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, goda masala powder, coriander powder, black salt and slowly mix it.
  • Then add tomato pieces, sugar, salt and mix it.
  • Now add fried potatoes, fried okra mix it and add roasted peanut powder mix it nicely.
  • Then add freshly grated coconut, chopped coriander leaves mix it again and switch of the flame

Now the dish is ready serve hot with cooked rice and roti’s.
