Ingredients used in BANANA BLOSSOM PORIYAL
• Banana blossom - 1 number.
• Salt - to taste.
• Tamarind juice - 1/2 cup.
• Jaggery - 1 piece.
• Oil - 2 tablespoons.
• Mustard seeds - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Urad dal - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Chana dal - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Asafoetida - 1 pinch.
• Curry leaves - 1 spring.
• Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon.
• Ginger(chopped) - 1 tea spoon.
• Green chillies(chopped) - 1 tea spoon.
• Fresh coconut(grated) - 1/4 cup.
• Coriander leaves(chopped) - 1 tablespoon.
Method:
  • Remove stamen part of flower in banana blossom like as show in video.
  • Cut banana blossom and transfer into water, later transfer into hot water pan and cook with little salt and lid on it.
  • Add tamarind juice, jaggery and cook it.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal, asafoetida, curry leaves, sesame seeds, ginger, green chillies, grated coconut and saute it.
  • To it add cooked banana blossom mixture and cook until all the moisture is evaporated.
  • Add coriander leaves and mix nicely and transfer into serving bowl and garnish with grated coconut.

Now banana blossom poriyal is ready to serve.
