Poppy seed potatoes Aloo Posto

Ingredients used in Poppy seed potatoes Aloo Posto
• Potatoes - 250 grams.
• Turmeric powder - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Green chilly - 3 numbers.
• Onion seeds(kalonji) - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Oil - 2 tablespoons.
• Poppy seeds - 100 grams.
• Jeera powder - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Salt - to taste.
• Coriander leaves(chopped) - 1 tablespoon.
• Mustard oil - 1 tablespoon.
• Green chilies (chopped) - 2 numbers.
Method:
  • First, soak the poppy seeds in warm water for 1 to 2 hours, make a paste of poppy seeds and green chilly.
  • Pour oil into a hot pan add kalonji, green chilly, turmeric powder, potatoes (boil the potatoes by adding salt, cook 70% done) toss the potatoes in the oil and add poppy seed paste, salt, add jeera powder, mix it well put the lid on cook for few minutes.
  • Heat mustard oil in a pan add chopped coriander leaves put this into the top of Aloo Posto.

Serve this hot with ghee bhaat or loochies.

Hi Chef, you always have great recipe. Being bengali this is my favorite dish. Just one suggestion to avoid milking of posto, my mom always switch the stove before putting the posto paste. She then lets it cook in the stream.
