yes it is. Sambar can be made both with and without coconut.

i m so confused. in our country v hardly see ppl add tamarind juice into any sambar. little tomato oni. u add so much of tamarind juice. does it not taste sour????????

No. It wont make it sour. Tamarind juice is not tamarind concentrate. It is slightly sour. Not as you are thinking. Happy Cooking. :)
