Ingredients used in KHICHDI
• Oil - as required.
• Garam masala - half tea spoon.
• Salt - to taste.
• Turmeric powder - half tea spoon.
• Hing - half tea spoon.
• Red chilli powder - half tablespoon.
• Tomatoes - 2 no.
• Onion - 1 no.
• Split lentils masoor dal - 1 cup.
• Rice - 2 cup.
• Green chillies - 2 no.
• Ginger garlic paste - 1 tea spoon.
• Cumin seeds - 1 tea spoon.
• Coriander powder - half tablespoon.
• Cumin powder - half tea.
Method:
  • Wash Rice and lentils together Cut onions,tomatoes and green chilli In a pan take little oil, add cumin seeds and a pinch of hing.
  • As the cumin seeds starts spluttering add onions.When onions are slightly fried, add green chillies and ginger garlic paste.
  • Add tomatoes and all the above remaining spices.Fry for 2-3 minutesthen add rice and masoor dal and mix it well.
  • Add water and let the rice and dal cook.Keep checking to make sure that there is enough water for rice and dal to cook and khichdi is ready.
