Ingredients used in Country chicken with Channa
• Coriander powder - 1 tablespoon.
• Chili powder - 1 tablespoon.
• Turmeric powder - pinch.
• Ginger garlic paste - 1 tablespoon.
• Whole garam masala (each) - 2 numbers.
• Oil - 1 tablespoon.
• Onion (chopped) - 1 number.
• Channa dal - 150 grams.
• Country chicken - 750 grams.
• Coconut powder - 1 tablespoon.
• Water - as required.
• Garam masala powder - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Coriander leaves (chopped) - 1 tablespoon.
• Black cumin seeds - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Salt - to taste.
Method:
  • Boil channa dal till it is half cooked and keep it aside.
  • Take a pressure cooker add oil, whole garam masala, onion chopped, salt.
  • Cook till onions are slightly golden brown, then add ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, chicken mix well.
  • Now add chili powder, coriander powder, coconut powder, water mix well and close with lid cook until meat is tender.
  • Once the meat is tender add channa dal and cook for another 10minutes then add garammasala powder, coriander leaves.

I think that is also to do with which part of the chicken you use in the recipe as to which colour the meat will be.

yes the taste is different... it has a different flavor... something like turkey. The texture of the meat is tougher too. The bones of free roaming chicken are also thicker and they add their own flavor. Very good and tasty meat!
