Ingredients used in VATHA KULAMBU
• Sambar powder - 2 tablespoons.
• Salt - to taste.
• Curry leaves - accordingly .
• Tamarind paste - 1 big.
• Cumin seed - 1 teaspoons.
• Fenugreek seeds - 1 teaspoons.
• Mustard seed - 1 teaspoons.
• Onions(small) - 1 cup.
• Garlic - 7-8 numbers.
• Mustard and fenugreek seeds powder - 1/2 teaspoons.
Method:
Heat the kadai and add oil to it. Once the oil heats add mustard, fenugreek seeds, cumin seeds and allow it to cook. Once it cooks, add hing and curry leaves. Then add sliced onions/garlic/drumstick to it and cook well. Can also add quot;vathalsquot; or non-roasted papad to it. as per taste. Dont cook onions to brown. Once it becomes transparent, add the sambar masala powder and roast it for a minute. Then add the tamarind paste and some water. Add salt to it and bring it to a thick consistence. Can also add powdered fenugreek seeds and mustard(powdered together). This is a typical authentic brahmin food used by all.
