Ingredients used in Idli Chiyali
• Idli (broken to small pieces) - 4 number.
• Salt - to taste.
• Turmeric powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Oil - 5 tablespoons.
• Peas - 1/2 cup.
• Cumin seeds - 1 tablespoon.
• Mustard seeds - 1 tablespoon.
• Green chilies (slitted) - 4 numbers.
• Onions (chopped) - 1 cup.
• Coriander leaves (chopped) - 3/4 cup.
• Chana dal/gram dal - 2 tablespoons.
• Lemon juice - to taste.
• Asafoetida/hing - pinch.
Method:
  • Squash idlis to small pieces and keep them aside.
  • Take a nonstick pan (medium size), add oil and heat for 2-3 minutes on a small flame.
  • Then add chilies, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, channa dal/ gram dal(optional) and fry them for two minutes on a small flame.
  • Add onions and fry them till they get slightly brown (don't fry them too much), add peas when the onions are almost done and then add squashed idlis into the pan and slowly squash them further with the spoon.
  • Then add turmeric, salt,hing and lemon juice and mix them well with the spoon.(After adding Idlis into the pan till they are done it will take only 10 minutes to cook)
  • At last, add coriander leaves and your Idli chiyali is ready.....
