Ingredients used in GENERAL Tso’s CHICKEN
• Chicken stock - 1 cup.
• Soya sauce - 2-1/2 tablespoons.
• Hoisin sauce - 1 tablespoon.
• Sugar - 1 tablespoon.
• Rice vinegar - 2 tablespoons.
• Pepper powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Corn flour - 1/2 cup.
• Egg (white) - 1 number.
• Oil - to fry.
• Dry red chilies - 5 numbers.
• Garlic (chopped) - 1 tea spoon.
• Ginger (chopped) - 1 tea spoon.
• Water - 1/2 cup.
• Sesame seeds oil - 1 tea spoon.
• Chicken - 500 grams.
Method:
In a bowl, add chicken stock, 2 tablespoons of soya sauce, hoisin sauce, sugar, rice vinegar, pepper and keep the sauce aside. In a cup, mix corn flour and water and keep aside. Take a bowl and add 1 tablespoon of soya sauce, egg white and beat it. Add cornflour and mix to a slightly thin batter consistency then add chicken and mix thoroughly. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the pieces on medium flame until the chicken is cooked. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil, add dry red chilies (optional), chopped garlic, ginger and saute it. Then add fried chicken, prepared sauce, little cornstarch mixture and cook it until sauce is absorbed by the chicken pieces. Now transfer it to a plate and garnish with spring onions and serve it.
