Ingredients used in Wala Thandu ( Banana Stem)
• Curry leaves - 10 piece.
• Hing - 1 pinch.
• Jeera (cummin) - 1 teaspoons.
• Green chilli - 4 numbers.
• Moong dal - 1 cup.
• Banana stem ( available in market in offwhite color) - 1 piece.
• Salt - 1 to taste.
• Yellow powder ( haldi) - 1 teaspoons.
• Oil - 1 teaspoons.
Method:
Cook Moong dal (soak in warm water for 8 mts) with turmeric powder and hing. Add cut banana stems (while cutting try and remove all the fibres with fingers) Add green chillis cover and cook in cooker till 1 whistle. Heat little oil in pan and add cummin seeds and curry leaves, Pour this over the cooked banana stems serve with yogurt and rice. (You can grind 4 table spoon of coconut with little one piece with a pinch of turmeric powder and little cummin and add at the end and cook for 3 mts. This will increase the taste and favour).
