Ingredients used in Tomato Rice
• Cinnamon - 1 stricks.
• Bay leaf ( biriyani leaf) - 2 numbers.
• Ghee or oil - 5 teaspoons.
• Ginger garlic paste - 1 tablespoons.
• Green chilly( vertically sliced) - 2 numbers.
• Onion ( sliced) - 1 big.
• Tomato ( medium sized) - 8 numbers.
• Basmati rice (preferably) if not ordinary rice - 2 cup.
• Star anise - 2 numbers.
• Fennel ( sombu) - 7-8 numbers.
• Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoons.
• Chilly powder - 2 tablespoons.
• Salt( to taste) - 2 tablespoons.
• Water - 2 cup.
Method:

First, Soak Basmati rice in water for half an hour ( 30 mins).. Then take pressure cooker...add 5 teaspoon of ghee or oil to it..once it is hot add bayleaf ,cinnamon,star anise and fennel and wait till it splutter....then add sliced onion to it....wait till it turns to light brown .now add green chilly and ginger garlic paste to it..saute for 1 minute then add tomato to it.. wait till water from tomato ooze out... .......then add turmeric powder,salt and chilly powder to it....wait till that raw smell of chilly powder goes....now add rice to it and fry it for 3 mins ...now add water to it....then close the cooker and pressure cook it for 10 mins or wait till 1 whistle....then switch off the stove keep it closed for 15-20 mins....then garnish it with coriander leaves and serve it with onion raita.....
