Amritsari  Macchi  is a mouth watering fried fish prepared with lot of spices is a popular street food of Amritsar.  This is a very delicious and healthy seafood dish; batter coated fish is airfried until crisp and done. This is extremely a brilliant way of frying the fish than the traditional style of deep fat frying. You if you are into healthy eating and don’t like using oil much than this dish is the right recipe for you. It’s completely mess-free, no using of fat and disposing it, cooks faster and still has a very appetizing and striking eye to grab the food.

Rather than dunking the food in hot oil, you hardly require 1 to 2 tsp of oil to brush fish with oil to get a nice texture, colour and crispness over the fish. The fish fillet cut into pieces are coated with chickpea batter mixed with aromatic spices, lemon juice, fresh ginger and garlic and then are inserted into wooden skewers and air fried for just about 7-10 minutes and the Amritsari Macchi is ready to eat. Extremely healthy and yummy snack, cholesterol free, hardly fried in just 1 tsp of oil yet truly crispy, soft and light to eat.

Fish: Fish is an important and staple food in the coastal regions of India which is available in abundance and cooked in various ways. Every state has its own way of making a special fish curry using local ingredients. Fish curry or Chapala Pulusu in Andhra Pradesh is a signature seafood dish where fish is cooked in a spicy tamarind sauce with spices. Fish curry is generally known as Meen Kozhambu in the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. There are a variety of fishes that is used for preparing the fish curry.

For preparing a delicious Meen Kozhambu, generally they use the korameena or black sole which taste extremely good. Fish is a highly nutritious food. Being an excellent protein food with fewer calories, it is better than other meat sources. It is rich in omega 3 fatty acids proven to be good for the heart. Fish are an excellent source of high quality protein. The biological value of fish protein is 80. They are low in fat particularly cholesterol & saturated.

They are rich in calcium, particularly small fishes eaten with bones. Canned fishes are very rich in calcium since during processing they become soft to be eaten. Additionally marine fishes are good sources of iodine. Being low in sodium they are sufficiently rich in potassium. Fish liver oils are excellent sources of fat soluble vitamins. Rohu (Indian fish) contains Vitamin C. They are also good sources of vitamin D and niacin. The end result of air frying the Amritsari Macchi is extraordinaire with an awesome crisp exterior and soft interior.

Fish can be cooked in various ways, but air frying the fish is a very healthy way of cooking the fish. This homemade, easy to fry, fat free Amritsari Macchi is the most simple & best seafood delicacy/ snack that is easy to make. They are crispy crust and tender, flaky fish on the inside. You must try making this snack at least once which will automatically have you finger licking. Talking from the health point of view, some of the amazing ways of cooking fish are baking, shallow frying, grilling, poaching and steaming. I am sure that this method of frying the Amritsari Macchi will surely enthral you in making more variety of air fried snack which will obviously make you greed up your palates and vouch for more.  Hence I wish to try this recipe and enjoy the fantastic taste and aroma.
