Hot delicious udapi style upma. Follow it to the dot for an authentic taste.
- In a kadhai heat only about 2 tablespoons of oil.
- Fry the onions till golden brown
- Add tomatoes, tumeric powder, Coriander leaves, Salt to taste.
- Cook till tomatoes become soft and remove from stove and keep aside.
- Keep 1 (1/2) - 2 cups of water for boiling.Bring to a boil and turn of heat.
- In a separate non-stick pan heat the remaining 2 tablespoonsof oil.
- Add mustard seeds and urad dal to it. Saute a little bit. add curry leaves amp; green chillies. fry them.
- Add the rava/semolina and fry on a low heat for 15 minutes. Fry well.
- Once you start smelling the roasted rava add sugar to it.
- Now add the mixture to it. Mix well.
- Then add the hot water and keep stirring till all the water is mixed in the rava. Cover on low flame for a minute.
- Squeeze some lime juice and give it a stir.
Upma and ready and can be garnished with some chopped cilantro.
