Beasan Laddu or besan ki Laddoo is a sweet popular in various countries of South Asia such as India Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. It is often prepared on festivals or household events such as weddings and births or offered as a prasad at Hindu Temples. How to make besan ladoo is easy, It is made out of flour and a variety of other ingredients formed into balls.
One of the earliest mentions of laddu is in a twelfth-century Gujarati manuscript. The popular besan wala laddu or laddoo can be made from gram flour (besan), semolina (rava), wheat flakes, and many other flours. It is also a common nickname for sweet and lovely people. Besan or Gram flour is flour made from ground chickpeas, a legume otherwise known as chana dal.
It is also known as chickpea flour, garbanzo flour, or besan. Gram flour contains a high proportion of carbohydrates but no gluten. Despite this, in comparison to other flours, it has a relatively high proportion of protein. Besan ladoos are rich, sweet dessert-snack made from gently roasted gram flour (besan).
Ladoos can be served any time of the day. Traditionally in Indian households ladoos and burfis are served as cookies and chocolate. Laddus or Laddoos as they are called are one of the most famous and liked Indian sweets. They are usually prepared during festivals like diwali, functions, auspicious occasions like marriages etc.
There are different types of Laddoos depending on the ingredients they use and named that way. They could be made of flours or sesame or coconut, sooji/semolina etc and rolled into balls. I have already posted different types of Laddoos like the ‘Nariyal ka Ladoo’, ‘Atta Ladoos, ‘Til Ka Ladoo’.
The Besan Ladoos are made up of gram flour or Besan. Even though this is a simple recipe, with few steps the tough part is the stirring of the besan in the ghee continuously until it gets an even brown color and a nutty flavor. Also this recipe uses a liberal amount of ghee (clarified butter) without which or any type of substitute the laddu will not taste the same.
But since it is made for special occasions, the effort is all worth it. Besan ladoo is one of the most common Maharashtrian sweets, Besan (chickpea flour) Laddoo, of which we always have some in our home. Chickpeas and other pulses are important ingredients in the Indian diet.
Approximately 25 percent of Indians are vegetarians, and lentils and grams are a great and healthy source of protein. India is the world's largest consumer and producer of chickpea. The major cultivation of Desi chickpea is in Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
Besan / Chickpea flour is mostly made from desi chickpeas as the imported variety from Mexico, Turkey and Australia are perceived to be bitter in comparison. Chickpeas from Tanzania and Myanmar are closest to the desi chickpea in taste, Besan is used for several concoctions here and laddoos made from it are popular.

Hi, no besan is not the same as semolina flour. Besan is a flour made from chickpeas. or i think also called garbanzo beans.
