OATS UTHAPPAM - HORLICKS OATS

Ingredients used in OATS UTHAPPAM - HORLICKS OATS
• Oats - 2 cups.
• All purpose flour - 1 cup.
• Baking soda - 1 pinch.
• Salt - to taste.
• Butter milk - 1 cup.
• French beans(finely chopped) - 1/4 cup.
• Onions(finely chopped) - 1 number.
• Spring onions(finely chopped) - 1/4 cup.
• Green chillies(finely chopped) - 1 number.
• Grated carrot - 1/4 cup.
• Cumin seeds - 1 tea spoon.
• Oil - 1 tea spoon.
Method:
  • Grind 2 cups of Horlicks oats in a blender to a coarse powder and transfer to a bowl.
  • In it, add all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt and mix it well.
  • Now by adding buttermilk, mix it (like a dosa batter), if required can add water.
  • Heat 1 teaspoon of oil in a pan, add a ladleful of batter and spread it in a circular shape (like uthappam).
  • Then top it with chopped green chillies, beans, onions, capsicum, spring onions, grated carrot and sprinkle oil on the top of dosa.
  • Roast it on both sides till onions turn to light brown in colour.

    For small uthappam:

  • Heat oil in a pan, pour small ladles of batter and season with chopped green chillies, beans, onions, capsicum, spring onions, grated carrot on top.

  • Roast it on both sides and serve it hot with any pickle.

Recipe of Oats Uttapam:

Ingredients: 

Oats                                                          -        1 cup

All-purpose flour                                  -        ½ cup

Cooking soda                                        -        pinch

Salt                                                           -        to taste

Buttermilk                                               -        as required

French beans, finely chopped           -        1 tsp

Capsicum, finely chopped                  -        1 tbsp

Onions, finely chopped                      -        1 tbsp

Spring onions, finely chopped          -        1 tbsp

Green chillies, finely chopped           -        1 tsp

Carrots, finely chopped                       -        1 tbsp

Cumin seeds                                           -        1 tsp

Oil                                                             -        for frying 

Directions:

  • In a mixie jar, add oats and grind to coarse powder. Transfer the mixture into a bowl.
  • Add all-purpose flour, cooking soda, salt and mix thoroughly.
  • Add buttermilk as require and mix well to make like dosa batter.
  • Heat a flat pan and pour one ladle full of batter and spread it evenly. Over the uttappam, sprinkle some French beans, capsicum, carrot, spring onions, onions, green chillies and cumin seeds.
  • Add some oil on the center and sides of the uttappam for frying.
  • Gently flip the uttappam on the other side and cook.
  • Serve Oats Uttappam hot with chutney.

 This is a South Indian tiffin recipe served for breakfast and is very easy to cook, healthy and can prepare it instantly.
