Kids likes sweet modak, whereas elders like savoury, the filling is a breeze. This, though, takes a little bit more time and little lengthy way of making, than the sweet one. A perfect Vinayagar Chaturthi Prasadam
- Take a mixie jar and add urad dal and blend into a coarse paste.
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, garlic, ginger, green chilies, asafoetida, curry leaves, urad dal paste and mix it, later cook it.
- To it add salt, lime juice and mix it switch off the flame then add 1tablespoon coconut, later transfer to a plate.
- Heat pan and add coconut, jaggery, cardamom powder and mix it, later cook for 7-8 minutes and transfer to a plate.
- In a pan, add water. Once it boils, add rice flour and mix it, later cook it.
- Transfer into a bowl and cover it. Divide dough into small portion.
For sweet:
- Apply ghee to hand, keep kneading dough and make a round flat shape.
- Place sweet stuffing mixture in center and close edges by folding like as shown in the video.
For savory:
- Apply ghee to hand, keep kneading dough and make a round flat shape.
- Place hot stuffing mixture in center and close edges, shape it with a fork like as shown in video.
- Place in steamer for 15 minutes, transfer into a serving plate.
Now modak sweet and savoury is ready to serve.
