Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations are incomplete without Lord Ganpati’s favorite sweet, the modak. Modaks are Indian sweet dumplings made from rice flour, coconut, and jaggery, it can be both fried or steamed.
- Firstly heat ghee in a pan add grated fresh coconut and fry till it gets a nice color and flavor.
- Now add poppy seeds, sesame seeds, jaggery and cook till the jaggery melt.
- Then, add cardamom powder, oats, mix well and keep aside till it is cool.
- Now heat some water in a pan and pour them in a rice flour, add ghee mix well and make it like a soft dough and keep aside.
- In another bowl add all purpose flour, ghee and mix well by adding water and make it like a stiff dough.
- Take a rice flour dough, shape it like a small cup, stuff the coconut mixture, mold t into a modak and steam cook it for 9-10 mins.
- Then take maida dough, roll a thin sheet, cut them into roundels by using a cutter
- Now stuff a coconut mixture, shape them like a modak and deep fry them in oil till they are nice and crispy.
- Now both steamed and fried modaks are ready to offer a Lord Ganesha.
