- Make slits on the chicken pieces. In a bowl add yogurt, red chili powder, Garam Masala , half of the ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder and salt. Rub this paste onto the chicken pieces. Keep aside for about an hour for marination.
- Heat ghee in a pan and fry onion till it get golen brown in color and keep aside.
- Heat ghee / butter in a heavy-bottomed pan. Add the remaining ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder and saute for a few seconds. Add chicken pieces and saute on medium flame for about 2 minutes.
- Cover and cook on low flame for 12 minutes or till the chicken pieces are half done.
- Add rice,water and salt. Bring to a boil. Cover and cook on low flamefor another 15 minutes or till the rice is done and all water is evaporated.
- Garnish with crunchy brown onions and finely chopped coriander leaves.
