Garam masala Rasam is a type of thin and spicy lentil soup which is an integral part of any South Indian meal but is different from the popular sambhar.There are many version of rasam, some are made with lentil and some are made without using any lentil ,taste almost like a spicy tomato or vegetable broth
- Heat little ghee, add mustard seeds and let it splutter.
- Then add red dry chillies, tomatoes, garlic cloves and a little water and let it cook till tomatoes are slightly tender.
- Roast together urad dal, cumin seeds, peppercorns and fenugreek seeds in a pan then grind to a fine powder.
- Once the tomatoes are cooked, add one more cup of water along with rasam powder, turmeric powder, salt, tamarind and the ground masala, cook it by stirring occasionally on medium flame.
- Serve Rasam with hot rice.
