Palak rajma Masala is a popular north Indian curry prepared with red kidney beans and spinach cooked together with spices. Palak rajma masala is aromatic, flavorful, thick gravy based dish that tastes extremely well eaten with  naan, roti, chapatti or rice. Rajma and palak together is a power packed healthy and nutritious dish that must be included in our everyday healthy diet.

Palak which is popularly known as Spinach is a well known green leafy vegetable especially known among kids as they would relate it with their popular cartoon idol “Popeye the Sailor” and his can of spinach for instant strength and energy. Rajma or Red kidney beans is a often used in preparing Rajma Chawal, an exotic, spicy rice and curry preparation from the north Indian cuisine. Red kidney beans are extensively used in Mexican cuisine

Kidney beans are very nutritious. They are, however, harder to digest than other beans, which is why they’re traditionally cooked with seasonings that help break them down, such as ginger. Use spices that are as fresh as possible–their health benefits, let alone their flavors, will be more potent that way.

Rajma is a very famous and common ingredient of north Indian meals. It does not have its origin in India but was brought from Mexico. It is generally consumed along with rice. Packed with proteins, soluble fiber, carbohydrates, folate, iron, manganese, zinc and more, this recipe is ideal for people who want to control cholesterol. Even though, this dish is heavy, it tastes good and is nutritious as well. In addition, it is very easy to prepare, consumes less oil and can make a meal complete.

This curry can be prepared with dried or canned kidney beans. It can be consumed along with Indian flat bread, crackers or long grained rice. Similar to other beans, red kidney beans is high in starch, protein and dietary fiber and is an excellent source of iron, potassium, selenium, molybdenum, thiamine, vitamin B6 and folic acid. Dried beans are almost always cooked by boiling, often after having been soaked for several hours.
