Popcorn Chicken cooked in an Air fryer is a brilliant way of making a healthy, fat-free snack. This is basically similar to the chicken nuggets but cooked with a variation. The Popcorn Chicken is super light, juicy and great nuggets of joy among the kids and grown-ups. Instead of deep frying, cooking in the Air-fryer is just excellent as the chicken popcorns are absolutely tasty, mouth-melting, tender and juicy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. They are excellent healthy party snack dish. Chicken is one all-time favorite poultry foods to many of us.
Kids love munching on a variety of snacks or tit-bits made with chicken like the chicken nuggets, chicken tikka, chicken Manchurian etc. It is also a good source of protein and other nutrients but we should also note that dark meat has a bit more saturated fat and cholesterol which is not a good healthy eating habit. You can always find better methods of cooking healthy foods like baking, roasting or grilling or stir frying which hardly uses any oil. It is also often said that most of the nutritional values are lost when they are deep fried; hence the important nutritional differences result from preparation.
Also know that if you add fat during preparation, you are also adding extra calories. Chicken is a quick and healthy way to get dinner on the table. Chicken is a very popular food in India as well as throughout the world cooked in multitude of ways to satisfy our palate. From a simple chicken soup to a fantastic tandoori chicken is appreciated and valued by people of all ages. The health benefits of eating poultry (lean without fat) are healthy. It is low in fat and calories and high in protein. If you’re looking for a great source of lean, low fat protein, then Chicken is the word.
The protein in chicken lends itself to muscle growth and development, and help support a healthy body weight and aid weight loss. Frying the Popcorn Chicken in my Phillips Air fryer with hardly any oil has been one of my most fantastic and awestruck moments in making this snack a healthy food for all. There are innumerable ways of cooking but this has been very fascinating as they have come out awesome, crunchy on bite, juicy and soft while eating and just tantalizing the taste buds craving for more and more. The Philips Air fryer is a unique piece of equipment that uses patented rapid air technology which enables you to fry awesome crispy super tasty snacks without oil.
This will be an excellent way of supporting a food system that is healthier for meats, people and the planet to follow good and healthy eating habits.
Ingredients:
Direction:
In a bowl, put in the chicken pieces and add Kashmiri red chilli powder, tomato ketchup, salt to taste, garam masala powder, kasuri methi, lemon juice, ginger garlic paste and mix well to coat the chicken pieces with the spices. Marinate this for some time. In a plate, put some all-purpose flour (maida) and season with little salt. Mix well and keep aside.
Whisk 1 or 2 eggs in a bowl and keep aside. Put the chicken pieces in the maida flour and coat them well with the flour. Toss the pieces well in the flour (this helps in absorbing the excess moisture) and then remove off the excess flour from the chicken pieces and keep aside.
Take the coated chicken pieces and drop them in the egg mixture and coat them well. Again remove the pieces from the egg mixture and drop them back into the maida and coat well in the flour. Repeat this process for 2 to 3 times if you want your popcorn chicken to be crispier.
In another plate, take some all-purpose flour and add 1 tsp of oil and rub in the fat into the flour (short crust method). For the last coating, add the chicken pieces into the egg mixture and mix well and then remove and add them into the flour mixed with oil.
Coat the pieces well with the flour, remove the excess flour and keep aside. Preheat the Airfryer at 200 degree C for 5 mins. Place all the chicken pieces into the basket and close the fryer (Philips Airfryer) and cook at 200 degree C for 7-8 minutes.
After 5 minutes, remove the basket and just shake well and cook again for about 2 minutes. Remove the chicken pieces and sprinkle some chaat masala, chilli powder and serve hot.
