UlavaCharu is a traditional Andhra Rasam. Its a thick horse gram lentil soup and is generally served with fresh cream or butter and rice. In our homes we serve it as a special dish for parties and weddings.
- Soak and boil horse gram with lot of water and separate water and grind horsegram into paste.
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, peppercorns, green chillies, dry red chillies, curry leaves and saute it.
- To it add horse gram boiled water, tamarind juice, salt, horse gram paste and boil for 10 minutes.
- Atlast add fresh cream and mix nicely.
Now Ulavacharu is ready to serve with rice.
