Ingredients used in Rose Flower Halwa
• Raisins - 20 grams.
• Pistachios - 20 grams.
• Almond - 30 grams.
• Cashew nuts - 50 grams.
• Ghee - 1/2 cup.
• Beet root - 250 grams.
• Rose petals - 200 grams.
• Sugar - 250 grams.
• Khoya - 150 grams.
• Cardamom powder - 1 tea spoon.
Method:
  • Heat ghee in a pan add cashew nuts, almond, pistachio, raisins, and add grated beetroot and cook it for few minutes, add rose petals (use fresh rose petals for better flavor) mix it and put the lid on and cook for 4 to 5 minutes.
  • After 5 minutes add sugar, put the lid on cook for 3 to 4 minutes, and add khoya, cardamom powder mix it well.

Serve this with ice cream.

This dessert is rich, very flavorful and is alluring to eat also. Rose flower halwa is also called as Gulkand ka halwa. Rose petals are delicate, highly aromatic and come in a variety of different shades like red, white, orange, pink, yellow etc. They have an awesome flavor that can be sweet, spicy or tart depending on the color. Generally the red or the pink color rose varieties are used for garnish on cakes and desserts. This enhances the aroma, gives a pleasant floral flavor and looks very decorative, made to look alluring on sight.

These are small & delicate beautiful additions from the Chef’s arsenal. Generally Rose is considered the flower of love, fragrance and beauty. It is one of the best gifts given on Valentine’s Day. Rose flowers impress people of all ages and groups. Though it has fantastic medicinal values, it is often prized for its aesthetic value. Roses are believed to have originated in Asia about millions years ago. They are a popular garden variety flower. At one time, rose petals or oils were also used in making perfumes and soaps etc. Rose petals provide a great source of vitamin C.

Gulkand:

Gulkand or Gulquand is a popular sweet preserve made of rose petals or rose petal jam. Gul means flower in both Persian and Urdu while Qand means sweet in Arabic. It is one of the most luscious Ayurvedic preparations used for centuries for good health. Gulkand has amazing benefits as they have cooling properties that help in heat related problems like tiredness, lethargy, itching, pain etc. Gulkand is also a powerful antioxidant and very good rejuvenator. Intake of gulkand helps to treat mouth ulcers, strengthens teeth and gums. It helps improves appetite and acts as a digestive tonic. Eating gulkand helps reducing excessive perspiration and foul body odour.

Do try preparing Rose flower halwa which is the best dessert to grace any festive occasion or parties. The addition of khoya gives a fantastic creamy richness and awesome texture.

Recipe of Rose Flower Halwa:

Ingredients:

Raisins                       -       20 gms

Pistachios                  -       20 gms

Almonds                    -       20 gms

Cashew nuts              -       20 gms

Ghee                            -       2 tbsp

Beet root                    -       250 gms

Rose petals               -       200 gms

Sugar                         -       250 gms

Khoya                        -       150 gms

Cardamom powder   -       10 gms

Method:

  1. Heat ghee in a pan and when it gets hot add cashew nuts, almonds, pistachio, raisins and sauté until done.
  2. Add grated beetroot and cook for few minutes.
  3. Add rose petals (use fresh rose petals for better flavor), mix and cover the pan with a lid and allow cooking for about 4 to 5 minutes.
  4. After 5 minutes add sugar, mix well, cover and cook again for 3 to 4 minutes.
  5. Add Khoya, cardamom powder and mix well.
  6. Serve this with ice-cream.

These sweet delicacies are perfect party sweets that are quick and easy to make. They also bring a majestic unmatched joy of experiencing an exotic dessert from a simple yet luscious rose petal.
