Ingredients used in Pesto Pasta
• Pesto sauce - 1 tablespoon.
• Cream - 2 tablespoons.
• Salt - to taste.
• Pasta - 200 grams.
• Parmesan cheese - 1 tea spoon.
Method:
  • Heat water in a pan add salt, pasta once comes boil drain them.
  • Heat a pan add water of boil pasta, cream, salt, cook this for a minute.
  • Add boiled pasta, toss them, add homemade pesto sauce and toss it, sprinkle some parmesan cheese and serve hot.

Topped with grated parmesan cheese, all ingredients tossed nicely and served hot. For making the Pesto pasta you could use any variety of pasta, best choice would be the farfella pasta which is the bow shaped pasta.

 

Pasta is a staple food of traditional Italian cuisine that is made with various variations. Typically pasta is made from unleavened dough of durum wheat flour mixed with water and formed into sheets or various shapes, then cooked adding a number of dishes. Pasta is a very simple dish that comes in large varieties as it is a versatile food. Pasta is generally added with a variety of sauces that gives a fantastic taste and flavour to the dish. Pasta sauces vary in taste, color and texture.

 

Most often simple sauces are ideal for long and thin strands of pasta while tomato sauce combines well with thicker pastas. Traditional pesto sauce is an excellent combination of olive oil, pine nuts, fresh basil, garlic and Parmesan cheese, which is a healthy addition to any diet. Rather high in calories and fat, pesto offers a wealth of nutrients and a punch of flavour that many other sauces lack. When enjoyed in moderation, pesto can enhance your health and nutrient intake.

 

Basil in pesto sauce is super beneficial as it contains a number of flavonoids, compounds that support cell structure and help fight disease- causing free radicals. Most health benefits in a pesto sauce mainly come from its nutrient dense ingredients. Although high in fat, pesto gets its fat from olive oil and pine nuts, which are both high in healthy unsaturated fats. Recipe of Pesto Pasta:

Ingredients:

  1. Pasta                        -       200 gms
  2. Salt                          -       to taste
  3. Cream                      -       2 tbsp
  4. Pesto sauce              -       1 tbsp
  5. Parmesan cheese     -       1 tsp

Directions:

  1. Heat water in a pan, add salt, pasta and allowing boiling. Once the pasta is cooked, drain the water and keep the pasta aside.
  2. Heat another pan, add little water (pasta cooked water), cream and salt. Cook this for a minute or till it comes to a boil.
  3. Add in the boiled pasta and toss well
  4. Add homemade pesto sauce and toss.
  5. Sprinkle some parmesan cheese and serve hot.

 

It is generally said that the word pesto is derived from pestare, which means to step on or mash, and therefore can be applied to a number of different sauces. This pesto sauce recipe is perfect for pasta and gnocchi. This sauce is also perfect for adding in the lasagne, which is amazingly refreshing on a hot day and even more so when served cool. Pesto sauce is made with a few simple ingredients: olive oil, basil, garlic and Parmesan cheese. Some varieties also use ground pine nuts or other types of nuts for that extra zest, flavour and texture.
