Ingredients used in Green Garbanzo Beans Sarva Pindi
• Chana leaves (chopped) - 1 teaspoons.
• Curry leaves (chopped) - 1 teaspoons.
• Green chillies (chopped) - 1 teaspoons.
• Onions (chopped) - 1/2 cup.
• Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoons.
• Oats - 1/2 cup.
• Ginger garlic (paste) - 1/2 teaspoons.
• Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoons.
• Red chilli powder - 1/2 teaspoons.
• Salt - to taste.
• Ragi flour - 1/2 cup.
• Rice flour - 1 cup.
• Ground nuts - 1/2 cup.
• Green garbanzo beans - 1 teaspoons.
• Oil - 3-4 teaspoons.
• Water - as required.
Method:
  • Take a bowl, add chana leaves, curry leaves, green chillies, onions, sesame seeds, oats, ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt, ragi flour and mix it once.
  • Add rice flour, crushed ground nuts, crushed green garbanzo beans and mix nicely to make a dough.
  • Apply to oil in kadai, and place dough and press it with hand, make holes like has shown in video.
  • Add little oil in the holes, initially cook it on high flame with lid on it, later reduce the flame and cook it on all sides by rotating it in between until it is done.

Now Green Garbanzo Beans Sarva Pindi is ready to serve.

A traditional dish from telangana made as evening crispy snack. Green Garbanzo Beans Sarva Pindi is a traditional dish of Telangana region especially prepared as an evening snack. Traditionally Sarva pindi is a crispy savory pancake made with rice flour, chana dal (lentil) and spices. This is an excellent variation using Green Garbanzo Beans. This dish is commonly called as Sarva Pindi as the name actually represents two words, i.e. Sarva which means a deep pot or pan and Pindi means flour (appa or a savory pancake made in deep pan), thus it is widely known as Sarva Pindi. Sarva Pindi pancake is one of the ethnic dishes from the Telangana cuisine.

 

Telangana cuisine was once the so called underrated rustic, spicy, pungent cuisine and is now getting the recognition it truly deserves. It is now being viewed as a distinct and sophisticated form of cooking in its own right, with explosive new tastes and textures, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. Telangana cuisine is distinguished for its highly spicy and tangy tastes and flavors. The main aspects of this cuisine are the dependence on tamarind and chillies.

Recipe: Green Garbanzo Beans Sarva Pindi

Ingredients:

  1. Chana leaves, chopped            -        1 bunch
  2. Curry leaves, chopped             -        1 sprig
  3. Green chilies, chopped            -        2-3 nos
  4. Onions, chopped                      -        1 no
  5. Sesame seeds                           -        1 tsp
  6. Oats                                         -        ½ cup
  7. Ginger garlic paste                   -        ½ tsp
  8. Turmeric powder                      -        ½ tsp
  9. Red chilli powder                     -        ½ tsp
  10. Salt                                          -        to taste
  11. Ragi flour                                 -        ½ cup
  12. Rice flour                                 -        1 cup
  13.  Ground nuts                           -        ½ tbsp
  14. Green Garbanzo beans            -        1 cup
  15. Oil                                            -        3-4 tsp
  16. Water                                       -        as required

Directions:

  1. Take a bowl, add chana leaves, curry leaves, green chillies, onions, sesame seeds, oats, ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt, ragi flour and mix all the ingredients well.
  2. Add rice flour, crushed ground nuts, crushed green garbanzo beans and mix nicely to make a dough.
  3. Apply 2 tsp oil to the kadai and place the dough and press it with your hand to make a flat pancake. Make holes in between.
  4. Add little oil in the holes and initially cook over high flame with lid covered on the kadai. Later reduce the flame and cook on all side by rotating in between until it is done.
  5. The green garbanzo beans Sarva Pindi is ready to serve.

This dish has all the goodness from oats, green garbanzo beans, rice flour, ragi flour, and the greens. This makes a very healthy and nutritious snack to most of the growing kids.
