Kadappa is a very famous side dish recipe with idli, dosa in Kumbakonam,Thiruvarur & Thanjavur. It tastes more like kurma and its consistency is between sambar and kurma.
- In a hot pan add red chilies, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, bay leaf, roasted Bengal gram, poppy seeds, fennel seeds, dry coconut and roast it.
- After roasting transfer into a mixie jar and crush it.
- In a hot pressure pan add oil, garlic, onions, salt and saute it.
- After few minutes add curry leaves, turmeric powder, chopped potatoes, water, chopped tomatoes and cover it.
- Cook it for 3 whistles.
- After 4 whistles add crushed powder mix it and boil it.
- Then add chana dal paste, and saute it.
- Simmer it for few minutes and add lime juice to it.
- Take a pan add ghee, cashew nuts, curry leaves and saute it.
- Then transfer into the pressure pan and sprinkle coriander leaves on it.
- Switch off the flame and transfer into the serving bowl.
Delicious kadappa dish is ready and serve with idli or dosa.
