This simple recipe is one variation to try with left over idlis by flavoring with crushed peanut and a simple tempering.
1. Smash the idli well (like you smash the potatoes). 2. Add oil in a heavy pan ,add mustard seeds,cumin and add channadal, Urad dal, peanuts and saute till they are cooked and then add Green/red chillies, curry leaves, chopped onion, turmeric. 3. Once onion is cooked (the onion should not loose its crispiness), add smashed Idli and salt and mix well. 4. Put some fresh cut coriander. 5. Serve hot with chutney or pickle.
