Description

This is Dish my mom taught me, made out of Besan. Besan is main ingredient in this. If made right, this is very tasty recipe where soft besan cubes are boiled in tangy and spicy tamarind juice. This recipe shall be made in 2 steps. 1Step is making the besan cubes. 2nd is making tamarind pulusu. To make Besan cubes. 1. Take equal measurements of water and besan to make proper cubes which do not melt away in tamarind juice. For this, take a vessel and add 2cups of water and boil it. then add 1/4th tsp of salt to it. Then add 1/4 tsp Ajwain. Then add 2cups besan to it and keep stirring, so that besan is mixed well in water and turn off the stove immediately. Make this a hard paste. Need not cook this paste further as it might burn. Then take a plate and grease it with oil and add this paste to it and spread this paste on it with hand. Be careful this is hot and do it slowly by dipping hand in water if required. Then cut it into required shape, cubes or diamonds around 2inchs each. Let this cool down and cubes are ready to remove. Step2. Making of Tamarind juice with masalas. Take a big vessel and add oil to it. Then Bay leaf, Cloves, Cinnamon, Cardamom and zeera to it. Then add curry leaves to it. (GingerGarlic paste can also be used) Keep tamarind juice ready with 2cups of water(tamarind as per taste which can compensate with besan taste). Boil this juice with salt, turmeric, Chilli powder, Dhaniya powder, Zeera powder, coconut powder and little garam masala powder as per taste. Make sure to add besan cubes only when this tamarind juice is completely boiled, then let this be on stove for 5more minutes so that besan cubes are also cooked in tamarind juice. Meanwhile add chopped coriander leaves. This dish is ready to serve and to be eaten with rice !! If cooked properly, this is very tasty dish with soft cubes of besan and tangy masaladar tamarind pulusu :)
