Description
This simple briyani with beetroot and lima beans which is healthy, colorful and a quickie with ready made maslas instead of time consuming grinding process. 1. Wash and dry the basmati rice few hours /a day before you plan to do the briyani. fry the rice in 2 tbsp of oil/butter/ghee till it turns a little white and keep it aside.This will emit a very sweet smell and the rice would remain seperate when you cook the briyani. 2. Add 2tbsp of oil to/ghee to the pan and fry the onions till they turn pink 3. Add the slit green chillies and fry for 2 minutes 4. Add Finely chopped ginger and garlic and fry till the raw smell disappears 5. Add finely chopped cilantro,mint,methi leaves and fry for a minute till the aroma spreads 6. add finely chopped tomato and fry for 3 minutes 7. add garam masala ,turmeric powders and fry for 5 minutes.The powders should b cooked well . 8. add the beetroot and lima beans,and fry till the betetroot gets 1/2 cooked(say 6-7 minutes),Add salt to taste 9. Now add the fried rice, 1 cup milk /coconut and 1.5 cups of water. If you are going to use a MW cooked, Empty the contents into the cooker and MW high for 20 minutes. Else, if you decide to use a pressure cooker, cook on medium fire for 11-14 minutes without a whistle.
Ingredients
- → ginger 1 inch Piece.
- → garlic pods 4 .
- → Fenugreek(methi) leaves - to subside the sweetness of beetroot(optional) 3 Tablespoons.
- → mint 1/4 Bunch.
- → cilantro 1/4 Bunch.
- → lima beans (optional) 1 Cup.
- → beetroot chopped into 1 inch pieces 1 Big.
- → Onion finely chopped 1 Big.
- → Basmathi rice or jasmine rice 2 Cup.
- → tomato 1 Big.
- → green chillies - slit 5-6 .
- → turmeric powder 1/2 Teaspoons.
- → garam masala powder 1spoon .
- → regular whole milk or coconut milk 1 cup .
- → oil/ghee 4 Tablespoons.
- → salt 2 Tablespoons.
