Aalu posto is a famous Bengali dish made by potato with poppy seeds. Its preferred to serve with plain rice & kalai or biuli daal( yellow split urad daal).
1. Peel three or four potato amp; cut it medium cube shape amp; put into water for good colour.
2. Soak half a cup of poppy seeds into water amp; make a good smooth paste along with two fresh green chili amp; little salt. After that put little mustard oil into it and mix it well.
3. Cut a medium onion into very thin slices.
4. Heat the kadai amp; put some mustard oil.
5. For tarka put one whole red dry chili.
6. Put all onion in oil amp; put salt as per your taste amp; fry them good till it soft.
7. Put all potato amp; fry with onion amp; fry for few minutes.
8. Put poppy seeds paste amp; stir amp; cook it till all poppy seeds mixed with potato amp; potato coated with poppy seeds paste.
9. Put half cup of water amp; mixed it well amp; cover with lid amp; stir occasionally. 10. After few minutes all water should get evaporated amp; potatos also be cooked.
10.Then put pinch of sugar amp; some raw mustard oil (optional) amp; your alu posto is done.
