Ingredients used in TOMATO BATH WITH SEMOLINA OR SOOJI OR BOMBAI RAVVA
• Oil - as required.
• Water - as required.
• Green chillis - 6 no.
• Green peas(soaked and cooked) - half cup.
• Potato - 1 no.
• Brinjal or eggplant - half cup.
• Tomatoes - 1 big.
• Onions - 1 no.
• Semolina or sooji - 1 cup.
• Ghee - 2 tablespoons.
• Cashewnuts - 4 no.
• Coriander leaves or cilantro - half cup.
• Garam masala (optional) - half tea spoon.
• Mustard seeds - 1 tea spoon.
• Cumin seeds - 1 tea spoon.
• Urad dal - 1 tea spoon.
• Chana dal - 1 tea spoon.
• Red chilies - 3 no.
Method:
  • First keep a thick bottom pan on the stove and add the oil and put mustard seeds,cumin seeds,urad dal, chana dal red chilies and cashewnuts for Tempering.
  • After they get fried add chopped onions and green chilies, saute for 2 minutes then add chopped tomatoes,brinjal and potatoes. Saute them for 5 minutes.
  • Then add soaked and cooked green peas (NOT frozen) and water. When water starts boiling, add the sooji or semolina and keep stirring continuously till it cooked.
  • Then switchoff the stove and add coriander leaves and ghee the tomato bath.

Serve hot with any chutney or sauce.
