Ingredients used in TenderTamrindLeaves Dal
• Water - as required.
• Salt - to taste.
• Curry leaves - 3 springs.
• Green chilles - 4 - 5 number.
• Turmeric powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Onion - 1 small.
• Garlic paste - 1 tea spoon.
• Mustard seeds - 1 tea spoon.
• Cumin seed - 1 tea spoon.
• Oil - 1 tablespoon.
• Tender tamarind leaves ( chinta chiguru) - 1 cup.
• Toor dal - 1 cup.
• Butter - 1 tea spoon.
• Corainder leaves - 1 bunch.
Method:
  • Clean and Boil Dal keep it a side.
  • Take a pan add Oil saute mustard seeds, Cumin seeds, chopped onions, garlic paste, turmeric, green chillies, curry leaves, salt, saute this for few minutes.
  • Now add tender tamarind leaves add little water and let it cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add boiled dal let it cook for another 5minutes lastly add butter, chopped coriander leaves.

I found young pickled tamarind leaves in a jar in a Filipino market in Juneau, Alaska. I haven't used them yet, but I'm guessing it would be ok to use them. I guess that's my next question for him.
