Ingredients used in RAVA KESARI
• Ghee or butter - 6 teaspoons.
• Cream of wheat (rava) - 1 tea spoon.
• Sugar - 1 cup.
• Milk - 3 cup.
• Cashewnuts - to taste.
• Raisins - to taste.
• Cardamom powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Saffron strands - to taste.
Method:
  • Heat butter or ghee in a non stick pan, fry cashew nuts and stir them until they become light brow. and add raisins till done. Remove and keep aside.
  • Add the rava(cream of wheat) to the same ghee pan and stir the rava till that comes to light brown or raw flavor goes away. Then remove from heat and keep aside.
  • Boil 3 cups of milk when reaches boiling stage add sugar. When sugar dissolves add rava while stirring to avoid lumps and cook till its almost dry.
  • Grease a baking pan or a plate and pour this mixture on it.
  • Garnish with cashews, raisins, saffron strands and cardamom powder.

Delicious Rava kesari is ready to serve.

This is a fantastic recipe. Tried making it and it turned out extremely good. Also it takes very less time to cook. Instead of using just water, I took 50% milk and 50% water. For more flavor I added cardomom powder and a little bit of camphor powder

I substituted water for milk,sugar content same 1 cup for 1 cup rava,it came good.

The recipe is very good. Can milk be substituted with water. If so what is the water sugar ratio and what consistency of syrup to be made.
