Ingredients used in Radish Pappu Charu
• Toor dal - 1/2 cup.
• Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoons.
• Water - 1-2 cup.
• Radish - 1-2 numbers.
• Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoons.
• Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoons.
• Dry red chillies - 2 numbers.
• Green chillies - 3 numbers.
• Garlic - 6-8 numbers.
• Shallots or onions - 1/2 cup.
• Tamarind juice - 1 cup.
• Red chilly powder - 1 teaspoons.
• Coriander leaves (chopped) - 1/4 bunch.
• Salt - to taste.
Method:
  • Boil toor dal with little turmeric powder, water until mashy consistency and keep aside. Cut radish into roundels and keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, dry red chilies, green chilies, crushed garlic and saute it.
  • Add shallots, radish, turmeric powder, salt and mix it, later cook it for 3-4 minutes with the lid on it.
  • Add tamarind juice, on high flame, add little water, red chilly powder and check for seasoning and boil it.
  • Add boiled toor dal and mix, boil once.Now add coriander leaves and switch off the flame.
  • Transfer to a bowl and garnish with coriander leaves.

Now radish pappu charu is ready to serve with plain rice.

Sambar can be prepared in a number of ways and it is adapted diversely in several states of south India.

 

Sambar recipe is actually a variation of dal recipe in which the dal is combined with different varieties of veggies like drumsticks, lady's finger (okra), bottle gourd, carrots, pumpkin, radish, brinjal (eggplant) etc. Also adding onions and tomatoes together with tamarind pulp to offer some tangy taste to the recipe.

 

Sambar with rice has become the main courses of both formal and daily south Indian food. Also, it is offered with idli, dosa and vada. It's not at all unusual to enjoy sambar rice with appalam
