Ingredients used in Quick and simple coconut chutney
• Urad daal - ½ tea spoon.
• Cumin seeds - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Mustard seeds - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Oil - 1 tablespoon.
• Green chilly - 2 numbers.
• Shallots (baby onions) - 2 numbers.
• Asafoetida - 1 pinch.
• Salt - to taste.
• Ginger(small) - 2 pieces.
• Grated coconut - 1 cup.
• Chana daal - ½ tea spoon.
• Red chilly - 2 numbers.
• Curry leaves - 2 springs.
• Hing - 1 pinch.
Method:
Take grated coconut, ginger, green chilly, salt, shallots, put all together in a blender and make a paste. Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad daal, chana daal, red chilly, cook this in the oil till lentils are golden brown. Add asafoetida, salt, curry leaves, pour the tempering on the top of the chutney and mix it well. Serve this with adai, roti.
