Pua is also known as malpua is an excellent sweet recipe prepared in large quantities on festive and any special occasions to share the good news. Learn the recipe of Pua and Singal by vahchef.

Pua/Malpua is a traditional Bihari (and probably Rajasthani also) dessert that is relished particularly during Holi. Singal are one of those fried semolina spirals that are part and parcel of Kumaon culture and festivals especially deepawali and Bhaiduj.

Pua and Singal - Malpua

Ingredients used in Pua and Singal - Malpua
• Semolina (sooji) - 1 cup.
• Curd - 1/2 cup.
• Sugar - 1/2 cup.
• Fennel seeds (saunf) - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Ripe banana (mashed) - 1 number.
• Green cardamom - to taste.
• Oil - to fry.
Method:
  • Mix all these ingredients together except oil. Keep this for 1 hour.
  • Heat oil. Prepare small balls using this mixture and put this into the oil. Deep fry till golden brown.
  • Remove them from the oil and put these into a bowl. You can use a tissue paper to absorb the excess oil.
  • Take the same mixture into a plastic bag with a hole and squeeze it making round shaped like Jalebi in a hot oil.
  • Fry till brown. Remove it from the oil.
