Ingredients used in Poha Pulihora Puli Aval
• Green chilies (chopped) - 3 numbers.
• Curry leaves - 2 springs.
• Asafoetida - 1 pinch.
• Urad dal - 1 tea spoon.
• Peanuts - 1 tea spoon.
• Chana dal - 1 tea spoon.
• Red chilies - 3 numbers.
• Cumin seeds - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Mustard seeds - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Fenugreek seeds - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Sesame seeds - 1 tea spoon.
• Poha / pressed rice - 250 grams.
• Turmeric powder - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Tamarind juice - 1/2 cup.
• Sambar powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Jaggery - 10 grams.
• Coriander leaves(chopped) - 1 bunch.
• Salt - to taste.
• Oil - 2 tea spoon.
Method:
  • Dry roast fenugreek seeds, sesame seeds then put it into the blender and make powder.
  • Heat oil in a pan,add mustard seeds. When mustard seeds splutter, add cumin seeds, red chilies, peanuts, chana dal, urad dal, asafoetida, curry leaves, green chilies, turmeric powder, tamarind juice, cook this until tamarind juice thickens.
  • Now, add sesame seeds powder, sambar powder, jaggery, mix this well. Cook it for about 2 minutes.
  • Take poha in a bowl, add water, soak it for a minute and drain out the water.
  • When tamarind is thickened, add the poha and toss it.
  • At last, add chopped coriander leaves to it and serve it hot.
