Ingredients used in NARALI BHAT
• Cashew nuts - 10 numbers.
• Cardamom powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Salt - pinch.
• Ghee/ clarified butter - 2 tablespoons.
• Jaggery, powdered - 200 grams.
• Freshly ground coconut - 100 grams.
• Rice - 250 grams.
• Raisins - 1 tablespoon.
• Hot water - as required.
Method:
  • Clean and wash rice, soak rice in water for 15 minutes and drain the water and keep aside.
  • Add ghee in a hot pan, in this add ground coconut paste and saute well for few minutes.
  • Add the soaked rice, raisins, cashew nuts and pinch of salt (it increases the taste of sweet dishes), mix the entire ingredients and saute the rice nicely.
  • Add hot water and allow the rice to cook, when the moisture gets slightly reduced, add powdered jaggery, cardamom powder, cover and cook over a slow flame until the rice is completely done.
