Ingredients used in Mutton Koftas
• Minced meat - 1 kg.
• Onions - 2 numbers.
• Puffed bengal gram dal - 1 tablespoon.
• Chironji - 1 tablespoon.
• Poppy seeds - 2 teaspoons.
• Ginger - 2 small.
• Green chilies - 6 numbers.
• Red chili powder - 2 teaspoons.
• Turmeric powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Salt - to taste.
• Oil - as required.
• Coriander leaves - 1/2 bunch.
• Garam masala powder - 1 tea spoon.
Method:
  • Roast puffed bengal gram dhal, chironji and poppy seeds separately and grind it together to a fine powder.
  • Clean minced meat, drain the water well and grind it to a course paste.
  • Fry sliced onions and grind along with green chilies and coriander leaves.
  • Add the above dry powder mix followed by ginger, turmeric powder, chili powder, garam masala powder and finally the ground meat to this mixture and blend well.
  • Shape the mixture into small round or oval shaped balls and shallow fry using oil till the koftas turn golden brown in color.
  • You can add an egg to the mixture while blending to bind all ingredients well or just roll the balls in egg white before frying, if desired.
  • Garnish hot koftas with lime slices and onions and serve hot.
