Masala Dal with Onion Tomato Gravy

Ingredients used in Masala Dal with Onion Tomato Gravy
• Curry leaves - 1 spring.
• Red chilly - 2 numbers.
• Cumin seeds - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Mustard seeds - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Turmeric powder - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Cumin powder - 1 tea spoon.
• Coriander powder - 1 tablespoon.
• Chilly powder - 1 tablespoon.
• Ginger garlic paste - 1 tea spoon.
• Salt - to taste.
• Oil - 2-3 tablespoons.
• Tomatoes - 100 grams.
• Onions - 100 grams.
• Ridge gourd - 100 grams.
• Tamarind juice - 2 tablespoons.
• Boiled toor daal - 1/2 cup.
Method:
  • Heat oil in a pressure cooker add onions, salt, saute acute; it and add ginger garlic paste, tomatoes, turmeric powder, chilly powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, mix this and put the lid on and let it cook for 15 to 20 minutes in a slow flame (6 to 7 whistles),
  • Use this gravy in many veg and nonveg curries.
  • Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds when mustard seeds splutter add cumin seeds, red chilly, curry leaves, saute acute; it and add ridge gourd, cook for few minutes.
  • Then add onion tomato gravy, add tamarind juice, salt, cook this and add boiled daal, put the lid on let it comes to boil, switch off the flame.

Serve this hot with rice.
