Ingredients used in Lemon Rasam
• Red chilies - 3 numbers.
• Asafoetida - pinch.
• Cumin seeds - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Pepper corns - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Mustard seeds - 1/2 tea spoon.
• Ghee - 1 tablespoon.
• Turmeric powder - 1/4 tea spoon.
• Salt - to taste.
• Tomatoes - 4 numbers.
• Green chilies (chopped) - 3 numbers.
• Curry leaves - 2 springs.
• Coriander leaves (chopped) - 1 bunch.
• Lemon juice - 3 tablespoons.
• Sugar - 1/2 tea spoon.
Method:
  • Take a bowl, add coriander stems, curry leaves, green chilies, tomatoes, salt, turmeric powder, boiledtoor dal along with water, cook it for 15 minutes.
  • Take a pestle, add cumin seeds, pepper corns and crush it.
  • Heat ghee in a pan, add mustard seeds, when mustard seeds splutter, add crushed pepper corn and cumin powder and even add asafoetida.
  • Add red chilies, saute it and pour into the daal mixture and reduce the flame.
  • Then add lemon juice, sugar, mix this well.
  • At last, add coriander leaves to the same pan, and switch off the flame.
